The Intermediate/Newcomer EventsWhat?Wednesday through Saturday of every regional, there are special games for players with fewer than 200 masterpoints. These are one-session events at 10AM and 3PM.These Are GoodA lot of work goes into constructing and running these games, because newcomers and intermediates are important to us.There is a ceiling of 200 masterpoints, so the newcomers and intermediates are playing against just themselves. The game is also stratified, making it even more likely that beginners can win points. These are one session events, making it easier for anyone to participate. But there is more. There is a special IN Director. The number of boards played and timing of boards is different. The tone of the game will be friendlier (supervised by the director). The IN events are in their own room. There are also gifts for newcomers, to help them feel welcome. The TrophyThere is also an I/N trophy, awarded to the player winning the most masterpoints at the Intermediate/Newcomer events in a Long Island Regional. Other Great Events for Intermediates to NewcomersThe bracketed Swiss round robin events areThere are no specific I/N events on Sunday. However, the bracketed Swiss on that day will put the <200 masterpoint crowd into a bracket with their peers. It is serious bridge, but intermediates can play against their peers for gold points. The non LM/LM Pairs is Tuesday night. This is a great chance for a non-life master to play with a Life Master. We can find partners for any non-life masters who want to play. more information.
