The I/N EventsThere is a ceiling of 200 masterpoints, so the newcomers and intermediates are playing against just themselves. Yes, it might be exciting for them to play against Michael Rosenberg, but most beginners would rather play against other beginners. The game is also stratified, making it even more likely that beginners can win points. These are one session events, making it easier for anyone to participate. But there is more. There is a special IN Director. The number of boards played and timing of boards is different. The tone of the game will be friendlier (supervised by the director). The IN events are in their own room. There is also an , awarded to the player winning the most masterpoints at the Intermediate/Newcomer events in a Long Island Regional. There are also gifts for newcomers, to help them feel welcome.
There are no specific I/N events on Sunday. However, the bracketed Swiss on that day will put the <200 masterpoint crowd into a bracket with their peers. It is serious bridge, but intermediates can play against their peers for gold points.
